Brave New Workshop

Welcome to the official Brave New Workshop Blog!   Basically, if it doesn’t have a place on one of the other areas of the website – photos, videos, news, gossip, and miscellaneous – it’ll end up here. Our blog: if the website was a kitchen, this would be the junk drawer.

Can a Two-Woman Show Be For Everyone?

Lately, there's been an uptick in women-centric shows, but it makes many of us wonder, "Is this show JUST for women? Did I buy tickets to something I think is a comedy but will actually be a redux of 'The Vagina Monologues'?"

Well, don't worry! Even with its lady-like title, the stars of "Babe Lincoln and the Vajazzled Badge of Courage" (that would be Katy McEwen and Lauren Anderson) have made sure that the show is funny for everyone.
When asked specifically about the accessibility of the show, Anderson said "Of course men will like the show! People automatically assume that a two-woman show is 'for women, by women,' and that assumption is disappointing."
McEwen added, "This show is for everyone: women, people who like women, people who hate women. If you know a woman, you will like this show!"

At the Brave New Workshop, our motto is "Positive Neutrality, Promiscuous Hostility." In this case, that translates to "We've made a show that women AND men can enjoy, but don't think we won't make fun of both!" It's worth noting that McEwen and Anderson, in addition to acting, wrote and directed all the sketches. Since they are two of the most talented comedians in the city (not just "talented women"), it is no stretch to assume that they have crafted a comedy show for anyone and everyone (well, everyone who likes to laugh!).
