Krissy Says “Yes” to Try New Things

I work in advertising as a media planner and so originally one of my coworkers went through the program and she would talk about what activities they did that day or what shows they went to go see, and every week I found myself asking her what the new game was or what the new update was in her class, and then I realized I should probably just try it!

I know it’s cliche, but I’ve definitely found myself saying yes more to certain things whether it’s hanging out with new friends or literally talking to strangers and becoming friends with them, doing new projects at work, or speaking in a presentation or on calls that I would typically just sit back in. I’ve definitely found more confidence. I’ve found myself trying new things and saying to myself ‘What’s the worst that can happen?’.

If I were to talk to somebody who was scared to try improv, I would tell them, just do it. One thing that kind of scared me at first was that I assumed that everyone taking the classes had been in drama, theater, choir or had some sort of performance background and I haven’t so I thought I would be so far behind, and then when I got to the classes I found that actually most of the people didn’t have any sort of similar experiences either, so you’re really in the same boat as your other classmates!
