Kelli Bypasses Fear and Finds Creativity

I am a professional hypnotist. I’m actually doing a group hypnosis session for my class tonight after we graduate! Improv has always been something I’ve been interested in. I know that in order to keep your mind young and elastic, you have to try new things and so I decided that I wasn’t going to do old! After 4 levels of improv (32 weeks!) the biggest thing I’ve learned is that there is always a solution. If you can get to a space where you can allow your mind to just be creative, there is always a solution not just to improv, but to any situation you would find yourself to be in.

If I were to talk to someone who was scared to try improv for the first time, I would tell them that fear is nothing but a false illusion and an acronym is false evidence appearing real, so everything that you’re feeling is that the feelings are real, but the thing holding you back only exists in your mind. The minute you do it it just dissolves and disappears and then you ask yourself the question, “Why was I ever afraid?” You can gain confidence, and just that threshold of walking over that fear, even for a sampler, it’s just realizing that it’s one step, it’s not a journey of a thousand steps, but it’s one step from fear into no fear.
