MARKETING SPECIALIST

Position Summary

BNW SU is seeking a marketer to increase our student enrollments and achieve our fundraising objectives. The Marketing Specialist will be responsible for coordinating, executing, and reporting results from implementing marketing programs. The marketing specialist will be responsible for managing the BNW SU website, e-mail marketing communications and campaigns, social media channels, advertising, graphic design for marketing materials, and coordination of events. This position reports to the Executive Director. Successful candidates will be driven to embrace an improvisational mindset and make meaningful contributions to serve our student community.

Major Responsibilities

  • Manages the BNW SU website, one of our primary recruiting tools.
  • Writes web content including blog posts, news and event announcements, etc.
  • Optimizes web content and pages to improve our search engine rankings
  • Designs and creates landing pages for student recruiting initiatives
  • Monitors web analytics and tracks progress against conversion goals
  • Manages e-mail marketing programs for recruiting, retention initiatives and fundraising
  • Engages in list building activities to enhance our e-mail database of prospective and current students
  • Uses copywriting and design skills to create e-mail marketing campaigns
  • Creates and distributes monthly BNW SU newsletter
  • Maintains compliance with CAN SPAM Act
  • Reports results against e-mail marketing program objectives
  • Manages our social media accounts to engage and increase participation in the BNW SU community. Drives referrals and tracks audience engagement.
  • Manages and tracks results from social media marketing programs and advertising
  • Assists the program director with managing the registration database and student status for outbound campaigns.
  • Helps plan, promote, and execute promotional events including free class nights, open houses, student appreciation nights, etc.
  • Provides staff support for special events on campus that help build and engage our student community
  • Supports communications and development activities related to fundraising programs
  • Maintains the BNW SU image library. Captures photos for marketing initiatives and produces short videos.
  • Designs marketing materials, curriculum materials, programs, and forms.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years on the job marketing experience
  • College degree preferred in liberal arts, marketing, or related field
  • Writing and editing skills. Promotional copywriting skills preferred.
  • Adept with WordPress and managing e-mail marketing systems (Mailchimp, Constant Contact, etc.)
  • Familiar with content marketing strategies and online advertising
  • Baseline knowledge of graphic design principles
  • Ability to take photos or produce short videos
  • Excellent communicator (written and verbal)
  • Employs problem solving skills
  • Enjoy continuous learning
  • Good time management and project management skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Strong collaborator with ability to work with multiple levels of professionals
  • Desire to work in a dynamic, creative, hard-working, “yes-and” environment, with a personal drive for achievement and world-class results
  • Adapts to changing priorities, tools, and situations without stressing out; go with the flow, take it in stride (improviser’s mindset).
  • Able to work some non-traditional hours (nights, weekend)
