Weathering Steel is another term for our A606 Truten™ finish. This is one of our most popular finishes because as it’s exposed to the weather, it begins to rust into an unbelievably unique look that’s one-of-a-kind.Weathering steel, or Truten A606, starts with a top coat of copper, phosphorus and silicon, which forms a textured oxide surface film on the panel. As time passes and the panels are exposed to the weather, the top layer begins to rust into a unique color. This coating is extremely resistant to corrosion caused by weather and other atmospheric conditions (meaning at a certain point, it stops rusting so you don’t have to worry about it rusting the entire way through). It outperforms carbon steels that displays a coarse, flaky oxide.
