Is there a minimum width for a Standing Seam panel?

Yes, there is a minimum width for Standing Seam metal panels.

Yes, the machines we use to produce the Standing Seam panels can only be adjusted in so far. A panel that is too narrow can be subject to interfering with the design of the panel, especially when dealing with expansion and contraction in different climates. There is an added benefit to using a smaller width panel verses a wider one — it can help hide the effect of “oil canning.” Oil Canning is common in metal roofing and siding applications. It is the visible distortion of the panel usually caused by improper installation or expansion and contraction due to changing temperatures.

Keep in mind that there are minimum lengths for certain panels. Talk to your Product Specialist for more information.
