Brave New Workshop

Customized Training

No one gets better without practice. You can’t hit better, throw better or shoot better without practicing. Practice. Practice. Practice. It’s an idea so simple that every kid knows it. Yet, somehow, that very basic idea gets overlooked at work. So why not train the way the professionals do? That’s the idea behind our customized training: If you want someone to learn, let them practice, let them laugh, let them remember.

Customized Workshops

Like all our programs, our training workshops are customized to provide your business with the professional training it needs to achieve its goals. This isn't some kind of corporate snooze-fest. It's also not an artsy-fartsy play session. With our customized training, we get your people up on their feet, having fun and learning. Whether it's for a few hours, a half-, full-, or multi-day event, people who attend our workshops dive in headfirst and practice. All while using improvisational techniques to build the skills needed to help them achieve their goals. Every training workshop is unique, but some current trends for improving performance and skill sets have included:

  • Maintaining focus in an environment of change
  • Selling using improv-based techniques
  • Generating more and better ideas
  • Increasing innovation and creativity
  • Becoming a better team member and leader
  • Improving communication
  • Motivating and engaging employees
  • Building confidence
  • Re-energizing customer service
  • Selling for the non-sales employee

Women’s Workshops

One of the most important parts of every organization is making sure everyone is empowered to succeed. Our women’s empowerment workshops are orchestrated by Elena Imaretska and presented by theatre owner Jenni Lilledahl, artistic director Katy McEwen and BNW alum Margi Simmons. Each workshop is specifically tailored to help women use the techniques of improvisation to build confidence and to work with their personal strengths and skills in order to accomplish their goals.

Recent Women’s Workshops learning points:

  • Trust yourself to put your ideas forward
  • Declare a clear point of view free of self-judgment
  • Practice viewing your ideas as gifts and improve your presentations skills
  • Find the sense of play in your everyday work
  • Use your sense of humor to help build confidence
  • Embrace who you are as a person and be your best self

Brainstorming

Brainstorming sessions start out with good intentions and all too often degrade into giant time sucks. At the Brave New Workshop we’re always coming up with new ideas for the next sketch or show. With our improvisational performances we even have to do it instantly, on the spot. How do we do it? We use improvisational principles, behavior, and culture to make it fun, creatively safe and productive. We also follow a specific Brave New Workshop process that enables our professional brainstorming sessions to improve teamwork and generate more and better ideas.

E-Learning

Not all companies have the budgets they need to send their employees to in-person training. However, they also know they can’t settle for second best. So, naturally, we’ve taken John Sweeney and made him available on video and online.

Change & Innovation Through Brainstorming
In this video, by well-known video training producers MediaPartners, top business speaker, John Sweeney, reveals the eight secrets to successful brainstorming and how utilizing those eight secrets can help your company be more innovative, creative and productive.

The second video created in cooperation with MediaPartners features John Sweeney teaching leaders how they can work to build a safe creative environment where the potential of every idea is accepted and encouraged. www.johnsweeneyvideo.com/leaders_program.html

Leadership Development
As part of Skillsoft’s Leadership Development Channel, Sweeney hosts a series of Leadership QuickTalk videos under the theme “Lead Like an Improviser.”
Using the improvisational techniques he’s honed on the Brave New Workshop mainstage he shows people how to use skills to declare their point of view, observe versus critique, serve the customer first and accept all ideas as gifts.

Virtual Live

The same customized live experiential training we offer in person, only scaled down to fit on the small screen. And delivered via web cam.

Oftentimes our clients increase the spread and value of our live events by making them via webinar to all of their employees not just the ones in the room. View an example of this on Microsoft’s Research Channel which features Sweeney’s presentation, “Beyond Brainstorming: Eight Secrets for Generating Big, Bold, Creative and Profitable Ideas.”

BNW was among the top three training sessions I've participated in here or in any other company in my career. I want to recommend it to everyone, even random people on the street!
