Founded in 1992 by brothers Dane and Travis Boersma, Dutch Bros Coffee has been expanding and making a name for itself throughout the western part of the US. With over 300 locations in seven different states, this coffee chain continues to expand and serves some killer coffee.

Sustainable Construction Meets Coffee
This Dutch Bros Coffee location in Gresham, Oregon had a unique goal: replace traditional construction with modular designs. RJ Russo, the contractor, and Luna Designs wanted to provide a more environmentally-friendly structure that would maximize the location’s lifespan, as well as hold up to both interior and exterior harsh environments. By eliminating materials like wood and products that would begin deteriorating, this modular design was built to withstand everything from coffee spills to thunderstorms.
This particular Dutch Bros Coffee location was one of the first factory-built building units in a line of many more to come. By combining the aesthetic and branding of Dutch Bros Coffee and the expansion goals of the company, RJ Russo, Luna Designs, and Dutch Bros Coffee were able to bring the vision to life.
From Arizona to Oregon
The modular building, named “The Falcon,” had quite a journey before it began serving coffee-loving customers in Oregon. Both the construction and design teams had to work closely with the city in order to meet building codes and other stipulations. The building itself was built on-site at RJ Russo in Phoenix, Arizona. It was then transported to Gresham by truck, where the 24,000 pound unit was finally placed onto the site by crane.
