NEW CD RELEASE ANNOUNCEMENT

Brave New Workshop Theatre Debuts First-Ever Best of Album!

Fans of the musical comedy tradition at the Brave New Workshop (BNW) Theatre have even greater reason to celebrate this holiday season. The BNW, founded by Dudley Riggs in 1958, has debuted the company's first-ever album, Songs of the Brave New Workshop, Best of Volume 1, featuring seventeen satirically biting and hilarious songs that have come to distinguish the theatre's shows. Inspired by the musical talents of long-time musical director, and well-known improv musician, Peter Guertin, the album was released to insiders just before Thanksgiving and is available today to the general public. Vocals were recorded by BNW performers Julie Grover, Caleb McEwen, Katy McEwen, Jim Robinson, and Shanan Wexler, as well as co-owner John Sweeney. Songs on the album were selected from BNW main stage shows spanning the last four years and were originally written by cast members performing in the shows.

Guertin, who is well known in the Twin Cities theatre community and as former keyboardist for local R&B; cat Mick Sterling, has masterminded the music behind more than 30 shows at the Brave New Workshop. His ability to musically convey a satirical point is clearly evident throughout the album and springs forth from an amazing repertoire of musical styles and instrumentations, as well as an unmatched understanding of improvisation and comedy.

Guertin is currently providing musical direction to the theatre's holiday show, My Big Fat Lutheran Christmas that includes two songs from the album, "The Twelve Days of Christmas," and "Steaming Pile of Christmas Cheer."
