The Brave New Workshop has been crafting audacious, hilarious, and thought-provoking original comedy, improv and satire in Minneapolis since 1958. Audiences enjoy original sketch comedy revues, written and performed by our cast, in our 2nd floor mainstage theatre; along with special presentations of unique comedy shows in our ETC theatre, every week of the year. With an impressive list of alumni, including US Senator Al Franken, Louie Anderson, Mo Collins, Melissa Peterman, Pat Proft, Rich Sommer, and Cedric Yarbrough, the Brave New Workshop (BNW) Comedy Theatre is a premiere venue for live comedic entertainment, and a true Twin Cities institution.
In 1958, former circus aerialist Dudley Riggs opened a Minneapolis coffeehouse with a stage for performers and created an American comedic institution. What started as a way to draw customers on slow nights became the Brave New Workshop, a comedy theater sinking its satirical talons deep into the culture of MinneapolisSt. Paul for over half a century. | Learn More!
I've gone to about 7 different shows, and have had a great experience every time. Some nights my stomach and cheeks hurt from laughing so hard!
We LOVED this and will definitely return when in the city again. It was excellent! The servers were great and I was thoroughly impressed with the entire experience.
WOW. The humor was so on point, so alive, so very very well thought out. Bravo bravo bravo! I cannot say enough.
If the Guthrie is the aircraft carrier on the waters of local theater, BNW is its resilient tugboat—with a pirate flag bearing a defiantly raised middle finger.
